The San Juan Island are recognized as an super cruiing ground for a week long cruise.  They are close together, allowing a pleasant sail each day, while getting into port early enough to enjoy the local area before everything is shut down.

Done three cruises now, two power and one by Dawson 26.  Local Guidebok is required and very careful understanding of currents per local tide books is critical.

Check the web and you will find all sorts of info.  You might start reading,www.48north.com for good background articles on the area.  Seattle, Puget Sound, and the British Columbia coast are nearby alternates.
