Hello all,
Myself and Wife are looking into selling ($30,000.00) or trading our Dawson and trailer for a larger boat in need of some work but fundementaly sound. We have completely gone through this vessel. Some of the work that has been done is a new electrical system including all wire in marine grade, 1750 watt inverter, 45 Amp Sealed battery charger, AC/DC panels, Battery switch, motor control panel in cockpit, cabin lights, Nav. lights, Stainless steal shore power connection. The house bank utilizes 2 inline 6 volt bats..
For plumbing we upgraded to a 12v pressurized Hot and Cold water system with a manual backup hand water pump. The faucet has a 6' hose with shutoff to reach into the cockpit. The system also incorperates a dockside hose hookup. There is also a 1 gal. pressure tank in the system to minimize pump use. There are 2 new Auto/Man. bilge pumps.
The original Westerbeke has been replaced with a direct drive, 36 volt DC motor. Power is banked by 6, 6 volt batteries, this bank is bank 2 for the house power. As the boat is in the final stages of completion the exact run times and efficiencies have not been tested, but are anticipated to be confirmed by May of 08. The cutless bearing is new and the propeler shaft is also new.
The original ice box was converted to an AC/DC refridgerator that works very nice and effeciently. The area around the ice box has been insulated with 5 to 8 inches of insulation.
The wheel steering system has been changed to a Pull-Pull cable system, the rudder bracket and gudeons have been upgraded to Stainless Steal.
All original wood has been restored to a hand rubbed teak oil finish and the v-berth cushions are new.
All deck hardware i.e. hinges, props 2 on each hatch, locks, cleats, sampson post, chain locker, anchor roller, have been upgraded to Stainless Steal. The standing and running rigging are 90% new.
The keel has been removed and had the 2 pins and cable replaced with new parts.
The bottom has never had blisters. The bottom has had a barrior coat with bottom paint applied to it. The decks have also been painted which was applied by spray. The hull remains gel-coat that is in pretty good shape. All lazerets, bilges and compartments have been repainted in white.
There are 5 sails, all in good shape. 2 Mains, 2 Jibs, Genoa.
The trailer is in need of work for long haul, but worth fixing up.
The boat is located in California and we can be contacted at
