Greetings

Sorry to see another PD go by the wayside
I don’t know the details of the demise of Patrick’s boat, but a word of caution, check to see if you have backing plates on your cleats, there’s a very good chance you don’t.
I put the largest plate I could for the space I had, the bow cleats plates are about 1 1/4 x 6, while the stern cleats are a little larger.
I also installed a 6” Marinum cleat just aft of the head stay  and bow roller also with a backing plate, I use this for anchoring overnight or in case I need a tow.
I used 1/8 aluminum that I purchased at a big box store,  a hacksaw and a drill motor and your good to go.

Good advice.  I replaced all cockpit hardware and backed it with fender washers.  I am looking to do exactly what you did for anchoring/mooring for the same reason.  The cleats are far too outboard to get proper backing plates.  Even washers help as you do not get a lot of support from a 1/4" nut!

Herb:
Good reference picture. Your set up is similar to mine except I replaced the original outboard cleats with chocks. Two questions: 1) I like your bow roller set up...fits perfectly...what brand, model and size is it? I'd like to duplicate your set up. 2) What's the eye pad just forward of the cleat for?

The anchor roller is a WINDLINE AR-2 $46.95 from West Marine
The pad eye is for an inner forestay so I can fly a storm jib so my furler won't blow out.

Do you just set the storm jib on it's own wire luff, or have you added a removable inner forestay?  Have you used it?

Love my furler, though going to weather in big wind is not so great.  Was out yesterday in 29kts, with gusts into the 40s.  My friend was very impressed with how the boat sailed.
