Hi everyone,
We have an Essex 26, which looks very much like the Parker Dawson, with the center cockpit, wheel steering and an engine well in the cockpit. Anyone else out there have one?

I forgot to mention that there are pics from our recent trip up and down the St. Johns River in Florida at www.SJRmag.com.

I am fairly certain that there are not any owners here.  The Essex seems to be quite unusual and not very many around.  I did post one I saw on Ebay some time ago.

Does your boat sail well?  Is it wet going to windward in heavier weather?

Your pictures looked great.  Nice to see some using their boat.

There was some info here a year or two back, including Bob's information.  The boat is not related to ours other than in general design.  It was made from a Venture/MacGregor Hull, modified by a reputable designer from the East Coast.  The photos Bob posted showed a very attractive boat. It should be lighter that the Parker Dawson by a good bit.

I saw one molding away locally, a few years ago.  It had been stripped, so hard to tell much from that example.
Enjoy !
