Anyone who can help me know what the fair price on a 1978 Dawson 26 Ketch in good running condition would you please email me.  Also what would be a GREAT price or a "STEAL" of a deal. I've only owned and sailed a O"Day 22' for about 3 years now and wonder if this is too much boat for me?  I did crew once in a sloop race and love it!

Any and all help would be appreciated.  Any special problems with that Dawson 26 that I might need to know when I go looking for one would also be appreciated.  I love you website.

Thanks
Mickey

As far as a steal goes.  I have seen Dawsons go for as little as $950 but they need tons of work.  I bought mine needing work and have enjoyed doing it (well much of it).  It also depends on what equipment the boat comes with, anchors, electronics, as well as what you plan to do with it, cruise, daysail...

I think that if you are sailing an Oday 22 sucessfully you will have no problems.  This is a much sturdier boat.

Good luck!

In all seriousness, that really isn't the question. A much more important one would be if the water upon which you intend to sail her would be too much for you.

(Preaching a little): The United States Power Squadron (USPS) has a 'beginners' boating course that is practically free. This course is quite thorough for recreational boaters and is highly recommended. Don't let the name (Power Squadron) fool you as I have three friends who are sailors and instruct these (and other) courses.

Check them out!
