I have been trying to figure out when the first and last Midship-Dawson-Parker Dawson boats were made. I combed the owners lists and came up with this.

MDS500080173 Hull #8 was built in Las Vegas January 1973.
DYC601990674  Hull #199 a Dawson26, June 1974 Vegas.
***********  Hull #279, Dawson 26 1979, built Clearwater, Florida "Bombay Dawson 26" (saf)
PHR26313M82K  Hull #313, a true Parker-Dawson, 11/82? (K=11)

Does anyone know of a younger or older boat? #8 & #313 must be pretty close to the end points..

NBTBD2800179  Claims its #280, a Clearwater Dawson 26..Could this actually be a Nauset Marine boat?
NOT THE CASE.  The Nauset Boats came after Hull 313 and had their own manufacturers Identification.
See Below  (saf)

Look on the transom about 3" below the rub-rail, near the rudder mounting fitting. It's moulded into the hull, 3/8" letters and numbers. Mine are on the starboard side in the blue stripe just below the rub rail.

Here is mine  MDS500650573.

MDS50 is a midship. 065 is my hull number. 05/73 is when it was made.

DYC60 is a Dawson.
PHR26 is a Parker-Dawson.

I have the complete history somewhere but cannot find it at the moment. I talked to the Owner of Nauset boats several years ago (1996) and he told me they bought the molds along with much other misc boat hardware (other than PD26)in a package deal that included a couple of unfinshed hulls, #312 and #313. He told me the PD 26/Nauset 26 did not fit in their future plans and they just completed the 2 unfinished boats and that was the end of it. I will try and find that info in the near future. Also have Nauset 26 and Bombay Dawson 26 sales literature.

Hello Mr. Loweke! Hey, that's good information! If you could scan and post the Nauset and Bombay literature, that would be even better! If you are right (and you probably are) hull #313, the last one built, is still in service...That means true Parker-Dawsons are rare boats indeed...But not as rare as Bombay-26's! I wonder if any were actually built and by whom?  Keep us posted and thanks for the info!

There sure is. The I.D. number you provided is hull #84 built in September 1973.  It's a Midship 25 built in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Look at some of the other hull numbers and you will see how the system works. Virtually all boats built in the U.S. since 1971 use the same system. Numbers were not required before that...

Back to the Nauset Question.  I had no idea how many were built there, but only two certainly sounds reasonable.  When I talked to them, it was to track down the molds.  I have been unable to find any notes on how to find the owner here in California.  I'll keep searching.  The owner at that time was not planning to build any boats.  Did , "Fairwind," and Nauset get together ?

Not Yet! When I was there in April, (On the Cape) E-mails and phone calls were fruitless. But we will be back on Cape Cod tomorrow for the summer so I'll work it a little harder! Nauset Marine has expanded and has facilities all over the place now.. Fairwind, (Bob).

Bill, that's hull number 38 a Midship 25. The last 3 numbers are missing which would complete the date of manufacture..It will probably be something like this 380373. Boat # 38 built March, 1973 in Las Vegas, NV.
