There is a PD26 ketch for sale on Craig's list. There are good pix of it at
http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/boa/1425335731.html. (Maybe it's the one you see.) It shows a mizzen mounted aft of the aft cabin hatch. It looks like a customized rig. The mainsail and mainmast look like the basic sloop rig. I also see what looks like a custom bowsprit with the jib mounted slightly forward of the bow stem. They may have moved the jib forward to move the center of the sail plan forward with the addition of the mizzen. Looks like they knew what they were doing.
Interestingly, the Craig's listing includes one of the original publicity photos of a ketch rig with the mast mounted just fore of the aft cabin.
The modified ketch rig looks like it would handle like a yawl. The mizzen would be good for stabilizing the boat at anchor. I'd keep it and try sailing with different sail combos in different conditions. The only thing I'd be wary of is the way the mizzen sheet appears to be cleated on the stern pulpit. From experience, the stern pulpit is weakly seated to the deck.
