Hello fellow Parker Dawson enthusiasts.  Perhaps some of you may remember the "mastless" Parker Dawson that was available on Craigslist 6 months ago.  Well I bought it and I also recovered the mast in 12 feet of water!!!  What an ordeal!  So now the mast is safe and sound in my backyard.  The next step is to either rent a trailer and put the boat on stands in my back yard or buy a trailer which is probably better.  The boat is currently at anchorage.
Any advice concerning best trailer/trailer weight requirement/etc. would be helpful. Any trailers for sale here?  Please let me know.  Steve in West Palm Beach FL

Steve,  You have Hull 271, I have 270.  Is your nameplate indicating Dawson 26 made in North Las Vegas, or perhaps a Florida boat.??

Hi Steve in San Jose:

I was doing research the other day and noticed that you had hull 270...I too was surprised hull 270 was clear across the country and reflected on how all these boats must have been scattered...

Yes, my plate above the companionway says Dawson 26 made in Las Vegas Nevada...but I am not sure of the  the "North" part.

THe boat is at anchor now so it is a pain to get to...but if you want any other info I can find out.  It is not a ketch...it has a wooden rudder with a long rudderarm...(not a round pilot steering wheel)  I have only one head in front...I have a lot of the original Dawson switches and stuff...

I am anxious to get it out of the water but I want to get the right trailer without spending too much.  My boat has that heavy retractable keel in the middle and so I think the best trailer is going to have its axles in the center to support the bulk of the keel weight.   I believe my boat weighs in at about 6000 lbs...soea that sound right?
Hard to believe our boats were next in line with each other 32 years ago or so...

If you want pics of my boat you can email me at luzinski@hotmail.com
