If you have a laptop and an inexpensive Garmin Etrex GPS, you have a very nice chart plotter. Just download the SeaClear II freeware. It covers all of the East and West coasts Alaska, Hawaii,Puerto Rico and the US virgin Islands,Great Lakes and inland rivers.
This is in real time on raster format (paper) charts.
