Your site is fantastic.  I wish that I had documented all the work that I have done on my boat.  This will be a great resource to all.

While planning the steering refit, be aware that two folks have changed the system slightlhy.

Dan Underwood had a boat where the wheel was moved aft and to the side, to allow better cockpit access for folks moving around.

Lowell installed a Yanmar IGM series engine and had to build up a taller hatch.  He seemed to like the raised cockpit sole in that area..Stve  partly offline while fixing my knee.

Hi everyone,

I am focusing on the recore of the cockpit under the steering pedestal.  We are enjoying a warm up so I am sprinting on the details and plan to get two panels made over the next few weeks.



Image made using a tool called Qcad.  First time I have used a cad program.  Neat.  It helped give me a visual.  I am interested to see how close the actual is to the schematic. 

The measurements were made based on cockpit sole templates from a few weeks ago.  I will post photos here as things develop.  At the same time, I am going to make an additional panel to cover the engine hatch.  The shape will closely follow the nonskid pattern.  Also purchased  some hardware to attach my engine hatch to the boat (no hinges or latch on my engine hatch).

real photos to follow.  Hoping by the end of the week to have a source for the wood.  It will be <= 3/16" thick and edge grained ipe.

Also the plank gap is 3/16"  I am using tile spacers to provide consistent gaps.
