I'd like to lead the halyards aft to the cockpit, with rope clutches, but there's not much room on the forward cabin top and they would have to make 90 degree turns. Has anyone done this and have any suggestions, diagrams or pictures? I also plan to install a boom vang. There's hardware on the mast and boom, but the hatch cover interferes when it's open. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have six rope clutches mounted on the port side of frt cabin and 4 on the stbd. The two hand rails have to be moved down on the side a little bit. i got a deal on a four clutch unit from Defender several years ago. A close out for 40 bucks or something. I do not have the 5th and 6th clutch rigged yet but it is for my cruising chute. I have a 6 sheave Harken deck organiser on port side and a 4 sheave Harken deck organizer on the stbd. side - front cabin roof. (Note: The Harken double layer is the only deck organizer you can use because there is so little room at the turning point.}
Port:
1) outhaul
2) boomvang
3) 1st reef (front of boom)
4) 1st reef (rear of boom)
5) downhaul Routed through deck organizer but not clutch.
Stbd:
1) topping lift
2) second reef (front of boom)
3) second reef (rear of boom)
4) main halyard
I have roller furling so jib halyard is permanently cleated off at bottom of mast.
Top of Rear Cabin:
I have a mahogony block mounted on each side of the rear cabin hatch with two cam cleats on each block.
The main sheet is fed through one cam cleat and the split backstay tensioner is fed through a second cleat. My intension was to also route a line to raise and lower the rudder for the other cam cleat and then route a line to the rudder handle to pull it over to one side so it doesn't "CLUNK" in the middle of the night, if a brease comes up. These last two lines have not been hooked up yet, and may not need to be hooked up now. My rudder scabbord hinge brackets were worn and the slop in the hinge allowed the rudder to clunk back and forth in its mount. I have just made two new rudder hinge brackets and am putting a grease zerk in each one to keep some heavy grease in the hinge. A film of grease will protect the new pin holes and will take up the few thousands of an inch that exist on the new brackets. I am hoping this arrangement will be trouble free for many years. (unlike the original which wore an egg shaped hole.)

At the base of the mast I have about 8-10? vertical spring loaded turning blocks.
