Be it to save battery power, add a romantic touch or just to add a little warmth to the cabin.
This is a very simple and inexpensive up grade to any ones boat.
Take a tuna fish or cat food can (I don’t know if you noticed, but the tuna cans keep getting smaller and smaller, this happens to be a lump crab can) and cut the lid except for about a ½ inch, turn the lid 90 degrees to the can, cover the inside of the lid with foil for reflectivity, drill a small hole in middle of the top for a mounting screw and you have a gimbeled lamp. As you can see, I’ve added a small glass chimney(s) to mine. We have two in each cabin.

Very creative.

I use about 7 of these closet lights with velcro and can move them around at will.  Usually replace batteries once in the summer.  Great for boat that live on a mooring with only occasional access to shore power.  Bought mine at Wal-Mart.
