Greetings
In an old brochure I have there is a photo of what seems to be a tiller autopilot mounted on the starboard cockpit seat and connected to the bottom of the wheel. It looks like it may turn the wheel about 45 degrees in each direction, not sure what that equals in degrees of rudder movement as my pedestal in out of the boat for painting right now. Has any one done this, and if so, what were the results?

The price difference between the tiller pilot and wheel pilot is about $750.00. the only down side I see is that it would impede getting forward on the starboard side.
Thanks for any input.

I am also interested in an autopilot solution.  I have a tiller steered boat and 3 kids and am reluctant to clutter the cockpit with a tiller pilot.  Has anyone mounted an below deck autopilot on a tiller steered boat?

I have one of the original TillerMaster autopilots with the setup you mention.  It does work pretty good, however it only turns the wheel about 45 degrees as stated.  Which is useful on a reach, but useless on a run.  It doesnt have the range of steering angle to really be relied upon if you ask me.

I would vote for the wheel steering.
