Does anyone have any info on the bimini for a PD26?

Or, does anyone have one for sale?

chances of finding a used bimini are slim .  They are easiliy bilt by any good canvas shop.  There are a few photos in the archives, and on of boats listed for sale in Maine has one that might be of interest.

I bought this bimini last year on Ebay for $210 including shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=4583349325

It has worked fabulously.  If I had  to do it again  I would have tried to get it 8-12" longer.  This would it give it 3-4' overhang over both hatches. Mine is white marine vinyl, I think I will go for sunbrella, next time.

It is not a high end unit but has worked perfectly.

I mounted it on the stantions at the center of the cockpit with shaft collars from http://www.staffordmfg.com/.  They are stainless steel and allow you to raise and lower the bimini with a few turns of an allen wrench.  On a passage is is great to have the  biminin low to increase shade and decrease windage.  With it higher I have standing headroom even with a mainsail that is oversized.

For some reason I will cannot post an attachment.  I will try to post some pics at some point.

I fold the bimini backward onto  the aft cabin when not in use.  I have no problems going forward or aft with the bimini up.

This had improved my PD more than anything other than  my new mainsail.  I don't know  how I lived  without it.

Enjoy,

Bob

Added a bimini support so that my bimini can be at the aft end of the cockpit and still not interfere with the tiller.  Can move the support base forward and it acts as the support when bimini is up.  I should be able to leave it at the high or low level.  Worry a bit about a jibe and the main sheet taking it out when up though.  Now my visibility forward is unobstructed.  Fun cheap project.
