Hull 270  has a YSB-8.  Does the job, but over time I've had several instances of the engine running out of fuel after 40 minutes.
We thought it was a bad Yanmar Connector that had a lousy locking system.

Was out with the Grandchildren last week and ran out again after 40 minutes and was unable to get fuel flow, or bleed the system. Sailed it home, but San Francisco Bay won't always give that option.

Took the pump off and it seems to have a bad diaphragn.  Obsolete model, but the diaphrargm can be bought.  Then today I found a new one, so when it arrives, I'll try to change that.

Question.  The boat has the metal fuel tank of around 15 gallons.  Fuel passes through a RACOR clear case diesel fuel filter, then thee;ectroc fuel pump, then to the engine mounted (Yanmar stock) filter, after which it goes to the high pressure injector pump.

My question is:  Is this the factory system ?
The fuel pump is a 12 volt universal type pump with an adjustor on top to vary the pressure.  DC wires go to the bottom of the pump.  No brand name but seems to be a Wesco ?  WP-38. Also model # 4301.  Also made with other company  names molded into the metal.

What have others got ?

This smells like what I have in my boat exactly.  Same tank.  Same motor.  I have a different fuel pump from stock I think as it is smaller than the bracket.  I can get the model if you need it next time I stop into storage.

So I have been thinking about this and remember what I did when I replaced the fuel line.

Before I connected the fuel pump to the engine filter, I  squirted the fuel into a bottle to remove and very large bits from the fuel system.  Some trub show out and that was that.  I suspect some tank rusting.  This past summer, my longest trip was 12 miles under power (see post about prop), and I have yet to have an issue with the engine.  That said, you never know.

Thanks and have a good week!
