I have noticed that a number of the compartments on the boat are sealed so that they hold water.  I was wondering what the best location for the bilge pump is and if I should use a pump with an internal float switch or have a separate float switch installed.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,

Assuming our boats are alike, I have a hand operated bilge pump on the wall of the port side storage compartment.  I have a tube which then runs down and into the small step compartment in the main cabin.  There are small inch diameter holes which then drain the other compartments into this area.  Water collects here so I am assuming its the lowest area of the boat.  I can easily monitor it and either hand pump or sometimes just sponge it dry.  Hooking an electic pump should be relatively easy as the fuse box is also inside the port storage area. The choice of switches would probably come down to your battery and keeping it charged.

Hope this helps.  Tom

Thanks for the help.  I might see about mounting a fitting so that I can mauually pump from that small step and just disconnect the hose for pumping elsewhere.  In bet an electric pump would fit in there as well.

Thanks,

Bob
