One of my winter projects is going to be replacing the water tank and all the hoses, fittings, etc. Has anyone done this recently and have any insight? My current tank is the original 20 gal located on the starboard side beneath the bunk. It has a faulty pressure pump and I suspect the tank has a slow leak. I want to replace the tank and change over to hand pumps at the two sinks (galley and aft cabin). My biggest concern is running new hoses. The one from the tank to the galley sink will be difficult. Any advice and thoughts will be welcome and probably put to good use. Thanks.

Greetings
I removed the water tank from hull # 237 for inspection and cleaning not that easy, but worth doing.
To replace the water lines use food grade, braided polyethylene, run the service line over the top of the trunk to the bulkhead below the electrical panel wiring I put a tee in and ran one line to the aft cabin
 ( on the long run from the bulkhead to the transom I used ½ PVC pipe) in order to run the other line to the galley sink the drawer assemble will need to be removed, then you will need to cut a hole  in the bulkhead that separates the drawer cabinet space and the locker/ice chest. I cut a 6 x 6 hole by drilling 4 3/8 holes and connecting the dots with a saber saw  so as to get my hand through to loosen the hose clamp and tighten the nut on sink faucet, while I was at it I also installed a Jacsco pressure water pump and a PVC check valve. In addition I still use the OEM rocker pump in the galley as back up to the pressure pump.
The system will also need to be winterized by draining the tank and any water that has remained in the check valve, I had my valve crack during the unusual cold spell we had here in north Florida this past winter.

Good instructions. Thank you very much. Can you describe where you ran the pvc to the aft sink and how it all came to together under the sink? PVC all the way, or did you connect hose to the pvc somewhere and continue with that to the sink? What is your experience with the pressure pump? My concern is that if there's any slow leak at a faucet, it will cycle on and off.

One thing to consider.  My watertank is on the starboard side under the quarterberth.  My boat lists to port most of the time, due to the gas tank and two large 100amp hour batteries in the cockpit locker.  I would like to replace the water tank at some point with a much larger one to put a bit more weight to starboard.  Just a thought.

I  drilled 1 1/4 inch holes with a spade bit through the port side locker bulkhead an the two under bunk storage locker bulkheads and ran the PVC through them, and then made connection at the pump and vanity end with short lengths of tubing, only reason for the PVC was a cost consideration.
 It depends on what pump you have, If I don’t have a near term need for the pressure water, I always turn the breaker off as it will always try to maintain  pressure, perhaps coming on once an hour for a second or two.

PVC sounds like it would be a little more rugged, too. I have a very full port locker with fuel tank, holding tank and batteries, so I will likely run aft on the starboard side. I never thought about turning off the breaker when not on the boat. Duh. Maybe I'll reconsider the pressure pump. Thanks for the reply! I printed the original for reference when I tackle this.

Has anybody considered putting a quick disconect fitting on the top side somewhere connected to an on demand pump for fresh water showers on the deck? Connect a hose to the quick disconnect with a garden hose sprayer and voa la, a shower. I had a set up like this for a truck I used to take out in the desert and it worked great. You might even put a T in the PVC line runnig to the aft cabin down stream from the on demand pump and run it up to the deck somewhere!
